  • Password or authentication information (stored in hashed form)
  • Profile details such as vehicle type, delivery preferences (if applicable)

We only ask for the minimum information necessary to operate the Service.

2.2 Information we collect automatically

Device and usage data

  • Device model, operating system, and version
  • Unique device identifiers (where available)
  • App version, language, time zone, mobile network information
  • Log data (access times, screens viewed, features used, crashes, performance data)

We use this to operate, protect, and improve the App.

Location data (including background location)

Local Navigator is a location-based courier app, and we collect precise location data, including while the App is in the background, with your permission.

  • Foreground location (while the App is in use): precise GPS or network-based location to calculate routes, show your position, and update delivery status.
  • Background location (while the App is in the background, with permission): used to track active delivery routes in real time, provide accurate ETAs and status updates, ensure navigation continues if you leave the App, and inform customers or dispatch about your progress.
Background location is collected only while you are logged in as a courier and have an active delivery task or are marked as available for assignments.

We do not use location data for advertising or unrelated profiling.

You can control location permissions in your device settings at any time. If you disable precise or background location, some core features of the App (such as navigation and delivery tracking) may not function properly.

Analytics and performance data

We may collect aggregated or anonymised information about how you use the App (for example, screens viewed, time spent, crashes) to understand performance, improve usability, and fix bugs.

2.3 Information from third parties

Depending on your use of the App, we may receive information from:

  • Service providers - such as hosting, analytics, or communication providers, who may process limited data (for example, error logs, notification delivery status) on our behalf.
  • Map and navigation services - which provide map tiles, routing results, or geocoding used to display maps and calculate routes.
  • Authentication or identity providers (if used) - if you log in using a third-party account, we may receive basic profile information as permitted by your settings with that provider.

We use this data strictly in line with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.

3. How we use your information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • Track courier progress during active deliveries

  • Send you service-related notifications (for example, new task, delivery status, account alerts)

3.2 Use of location data (including background location)

  • Determine your position for navigation and routing
  • Show your real-time location on the map during an active delivery
  • Calculate and update ETAs and distance to pickup/drop-off

4. Legal bases for processing (EEA/UK users)

If you are located in the UK, EEA, or Switzerland, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

Performance of a contract

  • To provide navigation and delivery services you request
  • To process and manage your participation as a courier

Legitimate interests

  • To prevent fraud and misuse
  • To analyze usage and performance (in a way that does not override your rights and freedoms)

Consent

  • For accessing your precise location, including background location, where required
  • For certain optional analytics or features, where applicable

You may withdraw your consent at any time via your device settings or in-app controls, where available. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal, but some features (especially navigation and delivery tracking) may no longer function.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information with:

5.1 Service providers and partners

  • Hosting providers and cloud infrastructure
  • Analytics and crash reporting providers
  • Communication providers (for example, push notifications, SMS, email)

These third parties are allowed to process your data only to provide services to us and must protect it appropriately.

5.2 Other users and business partners (if applicable)

When necessary for the operation of the Services, limited information may be shared with other parties, for example:

  • Customers or merchants may see limited information about couriers assigned to their order (e.g., first name, vehicle type, approximate location, and estimated arrival time).

5.3 Professional advisors & legal authorities

  • Our lawyers, auditors, or consultants, where necessary
  • Law enforcement or public authorities, where we are required by law or to protect rights and safety

5.4 Business transfers

If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy.

6. International data transfers

We are based in the United Kingdom, and your data may be processed in the UK and other countries where our service providers are located.

Where personal data is transferred from the UK/EEA to a country that does not provide the same level of protection, we will use appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or rely on adequacy decisions, where applicable.

7. Your choices and rights

7.1 Location settings

You can control location access via your device:

  • You can disable location services entirely.
  • You can restrict access (for example, allow only while using the app or deny).

If you disable precise or background location, certain core features (such as navigation and delivery tracking) may not function, and you may not be able to use the App as a courier.

7.2 Rights for EEA/UK users

Subject to legal limits, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Request restriction of processing
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Request data portability

To exercise these rights, please contact us using the information provided in the Contact Us section.

8. Data retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including:

  • As long as your account is active
  • For the duration required to complete deliveries and maintain delivery history (for dispute resolution and legal obligations)
  • For as long as required to comply with applicable laws (for example, tax, accounting, and other legal obligations)

When we no longer need your data, we will delete or anonymize it.

9. Security

We take appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These may include:

  • Encryption in transit and/or at rest where appropriate
  • Access controls and authentication
  • Regular monitoring and logging

However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's privacy

Local Navigator is not intended for children and is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe we may have collected information about a child, please contact us.

11. Third-party services and links

The App may include links to third-party websites or services. These third parties have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top.

For significant changes, we may also provide additional notice (such as an in-app notification or email, where appropriate).

Your continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
